Real photography. Real places. Made on the road.
About
I'm Luke MacNeil, founder of MacNeil Media Group. I make photographs the slow way: boots on dirt, coffee at 4 a.m., wind in the tripod, and hours of waiting for the sky to finally do the thing. No AI generation. No fake skies. Just authentic moments, captured in the wild.
A lot of this work is created the way I live: on the move. I travel through the American West in a 36-foot fifth wheel with my dog Elvis, chasing dark skies, empty roads, and the kind of silence you can't buy in a city.
Why Night Skies and Remote Places
The Southwest has some of the darkest skies in the country, and that's where the Milky Way stops being an idea and becomes a presence. Many of these images come from nights spent camping far from light pollution, planning around moon cycles, and stacking hours of exposure to bring out what was truly there.
When you see the Milky Way arching over hoodoos or canyon rims, that's what it looked like through the lens—not a sky swap, not an AI "enhancement."
The Craft
Capture
I travel to remote locations and wait for the right moment—sometimes hours under the stars for a single frame.
Process
Editing is careful and honest: bring out what my eyes saw, refine the scene, and keep it real.
Deliver
Prints are produced on-demand by professional labs and shipped directly to your door.
I'm obsessive about quality from the start: I shoot with Sony bodies and G-Master glass, and I'm a frequent drone pilot for cinematic perspectives where it makes sense.
